Dr. ist Direktor der Abteilung für endokrine und bariatrische Chirurgie und Leiter des bariatrischen Zentrums des Mater Olbia Hospital. Er hat einen Abschluss in Medizin und Chirurgie von der Medizinischen Fakultät der Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rom, Italien, und ein Zertifikat als Facharzt für Allgemeine Chirurgie von derselben Schule. Sein Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf laparoskopischen chirurgischen Ansätzen bei krankhafter Adipositas und endokrinen Erkrankungen, mit besonderem Interesse an minimal-invasiven Techniken. Er hat über 4500 chirurgische Eingriffe durchgeführt, darunter 1500 als Erstoperateur, und hat an der School of Medicine und der National School of Endocrine Surgery der Italian Society of Surgery gelehrt.

His main fields of interest are represented by the laparoscopic surgical approach to morbid obesity and surgical diseases of the endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, endocrine tumors of the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract) with particular attention to minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Over 4500 surgical procedures, of which over 1500 as first operator, including elective endocrine surgery, elective general surgery and emergency surgery.
