This retreat ticked all the boxes and was exactly what I was looking for. The yoga teaching was of the highest quality, held in both a beautiful indoor, purpose-built yoga space—complete with a rope wall and superbly equipped with props—and an outdoor shala surrounded by peaceful, stunning scenery.
My accommodation was light and spacious, with a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. The food was delicious and nutritious, made with fresh ingredients and full of flavour. I also loved the pool and deckchairs, the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
I would highly recommend this retreat if you are looking for a quiet, restorative experience to truly reset. I left feeling nourished—inside and out.

A truly wonderful place. Both yoga shalas inside and outside are beautiful places to do yoga. Simon is an enlightened teacher who understands the body/mind/soul in a way that is rare. The food is delicious. Rooms are basic but clean and you don’t want too much in this context. Very relaxed atmosphere and we felt at home. Thank you!

If you're looking to practice yoga in beautiful rural surroundings, Santillan is for you. Simon Low shares his home and knowledge with open arms and integrity. Whether you’re a guest of his, hold a retreat there as a teacher or attend with your own yoga group, you will be made welcome. Do bear in mind this an authentic retreat destination, not a sterile spa resort or a Hilton hotel. Santillan has character, soul and a magic that helps you forget the daily grind and disconnect from negativity.
Being relatively new to Yoga I was nervous ahead of our first visit last year. We needn’t have been. We’ve just returned from our second retreat, and it will not be our last.
I cannot imagine anyone leaves Santillan feeling hungry because the chef and his team are wonderfully talented serving nourishing veggie / vegan / GF food three times a day. He’s also a dab hand at blissful sound baths ;-) People chat and mingle over dinner or by the pool but there is no pressure. Join in as much or a little as you like. We went as a couple, but lots of people attend on their own and make friends along the way. As the sun goes down after evening practice, enjoy a glass or two of wine or beer from the honesty bar, and drift off to sleep in simple, comfortable bedrooms.
We have been blessed with meeting lovely, fun people on our retreats who share peaceful yogic values – both the staff and other guests. In my opinion, I feel lucky to have found Santillan. If you’re looking for a boozy pool party, perhaps Santillan is not for you.

From the moment the drive up the mountain started, there was peaceful ambiance! The hotel has a beautiful Spanish charm to it with so many details. Tana, the owner is very welcoming and kind. The food served everyday is absolutely incredibly! Some of the best food I have ever eaten. It is fresh and flavorful and there’s always yummy dessert to end the meal!
The yoga room overlooks a beautiful mountain and valley and you can see all the way to the sea. There is also a very sweet and friendly cat, panda, on the property who will not fail to brighten your day even more! I highly recommend this yoga studio

Santillan is a yoga haven. I’ve been coming here for 8 years pre and post Covid and I love it. The food from Javier is wonderful, fresh and mostly organic, the rooms are delightful and the gardens cared for beautifully. The pool is gorgeous and as for the studio, it’s one of the best I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend Santillan to anyone coming on a yoga retreat or who wants to host a retreat. ❤️
