Professor Wolfgang Gstöttner is an ear, nose and throat specialist. Head of the University Hospital for ENT Diseases at the Medical University of Vienna. Primary focus: head and neck surgery Scientific activity: • 1987 - 1990 Training as an ENT specialist at the Vienna General Hospital • 1990 Appointment as Senior Physician at the University Hospital ENT Clinic Vienna • 1993 Education, appointment as a university teacher • 1993 Appointment as Deputy Head of the University ENT Clinic in Vienna • 1995 Creation of a laser partial resection of the larynx at the University ENT Clinic of Vienna • 1996 Chairman of the International Cochlear Implant Workshop, first live broadcast of the Vienna University ENT Clinic

• 1998 The first implantation of an active middle ear implant in Austria 

• 2000 Appointed Professor and Executive Director of Univ. ENT clinics in Frankfurt • 2004 Ranking among German-speaking leading ENT researchers (SCI) 

• 2006 Admission to the editorship of Acta Otolaryngol (Stockholm) 

• 2008 Appointed Professor and Board Member of the University Hospital ENT Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna 

• 2009 Admission to the Scientific Advisory Board of the ENT journal

• 2012 First implantation of an auditory brain stem implant in Austria (interdisciplinary with neurosurgery)
