Banu Atalar

Prof. Banu Atalar is a radiation oncologist and an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Radiology (H.FACR). She directs radiation oncology services at Anadolu Medical Center. Additionally, she is a Full Professor at Acibadem MAA University. Prof. Atalar specializes in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). She has published 72 research papers in international journals.

Radiotherapy Specialization and Methods

Prof. Atalar treats tumors of the central nervous system, thorax, and gastrointestinal tract. She uses MR-guided adaptive SRS to target tumors. This technology lets the specialist adjust radiation doses in real time based on the tumor's position. Approximately 75% of her clinical practice involves SRS and MR Linac techniques.

The doctor treats various oncological conditions, including:

• Brain tumors, including glioblastoma and meningioma
• Prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers

Professional Leadership and Recognition

Prof. Atalar holds leadership roles in the global oncology community. She is the President of the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology for the 2025–2027 term. The specialist also serves as Chair of the ESTRO National Societies Committee. Her work includes contributing to the ASCO Resource-Stratified Guidelines Committee to improve cancer care globally.
