Er schloss 1990 die Chulalongkorn University mit Auszeichnung zweiter Klasse ab. Er absolvierte ein dreijähriges Fellowship an der Prince of Songkla University und die Facharztausbildung am Ramathibodi Hospital.

Er war der erste thailändische und südostasiatische Augenarzt, der in ein klinisches Fellowship für Hornhaut, äußere Augenerkrankungen und refraktive Chirurgie am Washington University Eye Center aufgenommen wurde. Er beteiligte sich an klinischen Studien zu PRK und LASIK mit dem Excimerlaser.

Am Ramathibodi Hospital leitet er seit 2001 den Bereich Hornhaut und refraktive Chirurgie und verantwortet das Fellowship-Programm. Er ist der erste thailändische Arzt, der in refraktiver Chirurgie zertifiziert wurde. Er hat Tausende LASIK- und Oberflächenlaser-Eingriffe durchgeführt. Er ist Mitgründer und medizinischer Direktor von Laser Vision. Das Laservision International LASIK Center gehört zu den von internationalen Augenärzten aus Südostasien und aus aller Welt am häufigsten besuchten Zentren.

Dr. Anun Vongthongsri is an ophthalmologist specializing in the cornea and refractive surgery. He was the first Southeast Asian ophthalmologist elected for a clinical fellowship at the Washington University Eye Center. Additionally, he is the first Thai doctor officially certified in refractive surgery.

Specialization & Approach

Dr. Vongthongsri treats vision issues such as keratoconus—a condition where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape—and cataracts. He uses techniques including ReLEx SMILE, LASIK, and IntraLase laser surgery. The doctor performs corneal transplants and ring implantations to restore sight. He also provides treatments for presbyopia and glaucoma through laser iridotomy, which uses a laser to create a small hole in the iris.

Dr. Vongthongsri has performed thousands of LASIK and surface laser procedures. He also participated in early clinical studies for PRK and LASIK using excimer lasers.
